Antimicrobial

Antimicrobial is a broad term describing any agent — chemical or physical — that acts against microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi or protozoa. It includes disinfectants, antiseptics, sanitisers and preservatives, each defined by where and how they are applied and the level of microbial reduction they achieve.

Not all antimicrobial products are equivalent. Regulatory categories and efficacy claims determine whether a product is suitable for surface disinfection, skin antisepsis, food-contact sanitisation or water treatment.

Used across healthcare, food safety, agriculture and consumer hygiene, with performance defined by standardised laboratory tests and use-specific claims.
