Biofilm

Biofilms form on wet surfaces — drains, pipes, medical devices — when microbes attach and secrete a polysaccharide matrix. The matrix protects the community from disinfectants and antibiotics.

Standard disinfection concentrations often fail to penetrate mature biofilm. Left untreated, biofilm reservoirs continually re-seed a facility with pathogens.

Combine mechanical cleaning to disrupt the matrix with an oxidising disinfectant like NaDCC at appropriate concentration and contact time.
