PPM (Parts Per Million)

Parts per million (ppm) is a way of expressing very dilute concentrations. In disinfection, it usually refers to free available chlorine — for example, a 1,000 ppm chlorine solution contains 1,000 mg of chlorine per litre of water.

Every disinfection protocol specifies a target ppm. Under-dosing fails to kill pathogens; over-dosing wastes chemical, corrodes surfaces, and creates safety hazards.
