# Controlled-Dose Disinfection

A disinfection approach where each dose of active ingredient is pre-measured to deliver a consistent chlorine concentration when dissolved in a specified volume of water.

## Definition

Controlled-dose disinfection relies on pre-formulated units — most commonly effervescent tablets or sachets — that contain an exact quantity of active chemistry. When dissolved in a defined volume of water, the resulting solution reaches a predictable available chlorine concentration without manual measuring, calculating or pouring of liquid concentrate.

## Why it matters

Manual dilution of liquid disinfectants is one of the leading causes of inconsistent solution strength in cleaning programmes. Controlled dosing removes measurement variables, making it easier to achieve compliant, repeatable disinfection across shifts, sites and staff experience levels.

## Practical applications

Widely adopted in hospitals, clinics, food manufacturing and multi-site facilities where standardisation and staff training simplicity are priorities. Particularly valuable in high-turnover environments where new staff must produce correct dilutions from day one.
